Travel to Norway

For many, your journey will begin in Los Angeles. Direct flights to Oslo are sometimes available in the summer months and take around 10 hours. Other common flight options include short layovers in London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, or Frankfurt.

Google Flights is a great tool for finding and booking flights.

Oslo Airport to OSLO

Gardermoen (Oslo Airport) is approximately 35 miles north of the center of Oslo. Trains are available most of the day and are the best travel option. Tickets cost around 130 NOK ($13 USD) per person from Gardermoen to Oslo Central Station. https://www.vy.no is a good website to check train, bus, ferry, and other public transportation schedules. The express train is available but not recommended as it’s only a few minutes faster. Taxis and car rentals can also be used but both are significantly more costly than taking the train.

Travel to OSCARSBORG FORTRESS

Traveling to Oscarsborg fortress will require taking a ferry. There are a few ferry options:

The first option is taking a ferry from Oslo (Aker brygge). Below are the ferry times for Friday if you plan on lodging at Oscarsborg for the weekend, and ferry times for Saturday if you plan to visit Oscarsborg on the day of the wedding. The ferry from Oslo to Oscarsborg takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

  •  B21 Ferry – On Friday 10:00 am from Aker brygge (Oslo)
  • B21 Ferry – On Saturday 10:00 am or 3:00 pm from Aker brygge (Oslo)
  • B22 Ferry – On Saturday 9:45 am or 1:10 pm from Aker brygge (Oslo)

The second option is traveling to Drobak and taking a ferry to Oscarsborg. Drobak is about 35 miles south of Oslo and about a 40 min bus ride with a few minutes of walking. The ferry from Drobak to Oscarsborg take approximately 5 minutes. Traveling from Oscarsborg to Oslo or Drobak will depend on whether you are lodging at Oscarsborg for the weekend or visiting for the wedding day. The last ferry that leaves from Oscarsborg on Saturday, June 20 leaves at 11:45 PM to Drobak. The B21 and B22 ferries leave for Oslo between 4:00 and 5:45 PM. If you took a ferry from Oslo you would have to travel back to Oslo from Drobak.

Public transportation will typically be your best option throughout your time in Norway. All of the times provided were based on information available many months prior to the wedding and therefore may change. We will do our best to update these times as we get closer to the wedding.
